Mudskipper would have you believe he's your fantasy stereotype thief with a heart, don't believe it for a second. Like all rogues should be he's in it for himself, if he can steal a loot without the other group members noticing, he will do.
He does however realise the need for friends (someone to hide him when he upsets the wrong people) if he likes you, he won't try to steal from you.
